Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 07/01/2013Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
A Full Time Psychiatrist is needed for a forensic unit in Virginia for an immediate and ongoing opportunity. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8a-5p, no weekends and no call. The psychiatrist will see all adult patients, perform evaluations, some consults, medication management, and rounding. The site utilizes EMRs and is willing to train. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health profess! ional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
