The Perfect Opportunity
Our Natural Systems Team are seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis as their Environmental Operations Officer!
We’re seeking someone who has a desire to develop and implement strategies for the effective management of Invasive Species and Biosecurity issues across our picturesque Port Stephens LGA, ensuring compliance in accordance with government regulated bodies.
Your responsibilities will involve developing and implementing natural area management plans. This'll include strategies to protect and enhance the ecological value of these areas, ensuring their long-term sustainability. Additionally, you'll play a vital role in weed and pest animal management programs, helping to control invasive species that can threaten the local ecosystem.
Another important aspect of your role will be applying for and managing grants. This involves identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant applications to support environmental restoration initiatives. By securing grants, you can further enhance the Council's capacity to implement effective conservation projects.
Furthermore, you'll have the opportunity to serve as a mentor to the Invasive Species Officer's. This mentoring role will involve sharing your knowledge and expertise in invasive species management, helping them develop their skills and contribute effectively to the Council's goals.
Overall, this position offers a diverse range of responsibilities and the chance to make a significant impact on the environmental well-being of Port Stephens.
You’ll have first class communication skills, be self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously whilst operating in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
