This position is assigned to the Forensic Program, and is responsible for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients admitted from jails, maximum secured mental health or prison settings that are court ordered for treatment. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary treatment team to discuss patient care needs, treatment planning and implementation. Ensures medical records compliance with regard to state and federal regulations and Joint Commission. Ensures documentation in Medical Records documentation supports reimbursement activities for medical coding and billing practices. Provides consultation as needed. Serves as an on-call physician (MOD), as needed.
Shift - Days / Rotating
Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or comparable degree with completion of an approved/accredited psychiatry residency training program. Current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a current DEA Registration. Experience depicting excellent evaluation, examination and diagnostic skills in order to treat and manage mental and medical illnesses/diseases. Effectively communicate with patients and staff on all levels, orally and in writing in order to document medical information into the medical record and for interactions with others regarding clinical and/or administrative concerns or issues. Excellent interpersonal skills; good computer and keyboarding skills in order to use the computerized physician order entry program.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with patients, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Special Requirements
