The Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center invites applications for a staff member to serve as a Triage Clinician. This is a full-time professional faculty appointment at our Blacksburg, VA facility. The Cook Counseling Center provi! des mental health services to the student community of Virginia Tech. The Triage Clinician works with a multidisciplinary staff of psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychology interns and practicum students to deliver services that maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical care. The Triage Clinician has responsibility for the following: provide individual services to students including initial assessment, diagnosis, and determination of treatment needs; conduct crisis interventions as needed; follow-up and track referrals for students with identified high risk needs; maintain full and accurate case notes for clients; attend court hearings for involuntarily hospitalized students; conduct mandatory assessments; and maintain private practitioner database. Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Counseling (or related mental health field) plus one year of full-time experience in crisis intervention/emergency evaluation. Licensed as a mental health professional or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia (must be licensed within two years of hire). Experience in working in a college counseling center is desirable.
