The VCU Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a Director of! Psychiatric Services in Pediatrics in collaboration with the Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC), Virginia's flagship psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents, and the Department of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR). Reporting to both the Division Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Department Chair of Pediatrics, the Director will ensure excellence in teaching, service and research. The Director will coordinate ED and Inpatient psychiatric services in Pediatrics, as well as consultations, telemedicine, and clinical care. The Director will provide leadership and vision for the creation of a pediatric/psychiatric consultation and liaison service as a national model. The Director will develop an educational curriculum and house staff rotations for Pediatric residents. The Director will develop and maintain constructive relationships with the stakeholders at the state and local level who share an interest in promoting children'! s mental health. The successful candidate will be a faculty me! mber in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at a level commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Development of scholarly activities consistent with candidate's interests.
The Division of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry employs fourteen Faculty in its mission to provide child and adolescent psychiatric services at several facilities and agencies in Central Virginia. The VTCC is a nationally recognized center of excellence for children's mental health located on the campus of the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, and serve children throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia through its team-based, multidisciplinary acute inpatient, outpatient and consultative services. One of its emerging service areas is working with primary care and pediatric specialists to provide integrative physical and mental health care. VTCC offers comprehensive training for all mental health disciplines including accredited fellowship training programs in Psychiatry and in! ternships and postdoctoral fellowships in Psychology. Richmond, 'the River City', is a lovely midsized (1.2 million) metropolis which offers the amenities of larger cities, but at a substantially more attractive cost of living.
QUALIFICATIONS: Board-certified or eligible in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, triple board is desirable. Experience teaching and provision of clinical services for children/adolescents/families. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
