This position is located in Psychiatry, Director Mental Health, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA. The incumbent serves on an interdisciplinary treatment team which provides assessment, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, and inpatient/outpatient therapy for psychiatric patients. KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.
Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
You must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

A physical examination is required. DUTIES:
Plans, co! ordinates, and provides recreational therapy services to patients on the inpatient/outpatient Psychiatry therapy services.
Conducts groups or activities as part of the comprehensive delivery of activities.
Evaluates all new patients as needed for appropriate placement in recreational therapy activities of the biopsychosocial services.
Facilitates patient groups and document patient's response to treatments. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

BASIC REQUIREMENT: A degree in recreational therapy or in a creative arts therapy fi! eld (art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, or psychodrama); or a major in an appropriate subject-matter field with therapeutic emphasis or concentration. Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: This position has a Positive Education Requirement. In order to verify that you meet the positive education qualifications for this position, you should submit a complete copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (Course title, semester/quarter hours and grade). IN ADDITION TO BASIC REQUIREMENTS, APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:!
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience evaluating the history, interests, aptitudes, and skills of patients by interviews, inventories, tests, and measurement.
Experience developing and implementing therapy activities for individual patients.
Experience providing individual, group and family recreational therapy to psychiatry patients.
Experience planning and coordinating recreational therapy services to patients on the inpatient and outpatient psychiatry programs.

! QUALITY RANKING FACTOR: This position has a Quality Ranking Factor (QRF). This is a quality ranking factor that could be expected to enhance significantly the performance of the applicant in the position. The actual QRF is a certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (C.T.R.S) with the NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) . You do not have to possess the factor in order to be rated eligible; however, applicants possessing the factor will receive additional points. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume or supplemental information that is requested in the description of the question identified as the QRF.

EDUCATION:
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (GS-09): Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related.
