The Community Living Center (CLC) Registered Nurse is administratively responsible and accountable to the Nurse Manager, CLC. His/her duties include management of care and support of the veteran coping with rehabilitation, chronic diseases or end of life care issues. This will include the management, spiritual, psychosocial, emotional care for the client in this life cycle. This nurse must be able and willing to work day/evening, permanent evenings or day/night rotation.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Specialized Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of recent, full time clinical experience in an adult acute care setting, Community Living Center (Nursing Home) or Psychiatry preferred.
BLS/ACLS Requirements: Current certification in BLS is required for all staff providing direct patient care, and police. Additionally, current ACLS is required for patient care staff that work in specified or high risk areas (SICU/ICU/CCU/MICU/PACU/ED/and all procedure suites using moderate sedation, etc.). If you are selected for a! position which requires BLS/ACLS certification, you will be required t! o have proof of certification prior to being boarded for appointment with VA. If selected, obtain such certification in order to avoid any delays in the hiring process.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials.
