Physician II / MOD

Description: Eastern State Hospital is in need of Physician II / MOD right now, this position will be presented in Virginia. This position serves as the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD), and is responsible for overall medical and psychiatric coverage for the facility while on duty after regular work hours. The MOD provides quali! ty medical care and treatment; performs timely medical and psychiatric assessments and evaluations; documents findings, prescribes patient care and treatment that conforms to the standards of practice; admits and transfers patients in accordance with appropriate level of care and makes notification to families; and collaborates with facility and CSB staff regarding admissions protocol.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or comparable degree with completion of an approved/accredited psychiatry residency training program; current license to practice medicine by the VA Board of Medicine; current Federal DEA Registration, excellent skills in patient evaluation, examination and diagnosis in order to treat and manage mental and medical illnesses/diseases; excellent interpersonal skills are paramount for collaborative discussions with facility/CSB staff, patient families and the overall public; effective communication skills with patients and staff on all ! levels, orally and in writing, in order to document medical in! formation into the medical record; and good computer and keyboarding skills in order to use the computerized physician order entry program.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an inpatient setting.
