POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the B-Smart Counselor is to assist the ER physician and on-call
psychiatrist with the disposition of patients with a psychiatric illness in the Emergency Room setting. In addition, the B-Smart Counselor is to provide facilitation/communication and discharge planning for at-risk populations identified by the ER physicians.
Job Requirements
1. Work requires a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing or rehabilitation counseling. 2. Work requires licensure in the State of Virginia, such as licensed Social Worker, Psychologist, Professional Counselor, and/or Nurse. 3. Work requires five years of demonstrated experience working with patients who have psychiatric illness, chemical dependency issues, and case management experience. 4. Demonstrates a high level of communication, organizational skills, and assessment skills and is able to work independently. 5. Demonstrates knowledge of the utilization review process
