Assist the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. Mobilizes resources to meet the individualized needs of patient/families. Provides direction, education, and assumes leadership responsibilities at the unit level. To deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care. To safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc:

Current RN Licensure in Virginia AHA BLS Certification

Level and type of experience REQUIRED

1 year of relevant clinical experience demonstrating:

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Critical thinking and care planning skills.
• Clinical competency as required for the unit assigned
• Knowledge and skill in use of specific equipment used for patient care (monitor, infusion pumps, etc)
• Ability to work as an effective health care team member: skills of delegation, negotiation, collaboration
• Set goals and plans holistic care for patient/families
• Mobilizing resources to meet individualized patient/families needs

Level and type of experience PREFERRED:
Academic Health Care Experience Competent clinical skills Leadership Role experienced preferred

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
