The Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) provides face to face behavioral health therapy/counseling to primarily adult patients. The BHC may! see pediatric/adolescent patients if needed. The BHC provides (1) initial psychiatric evaluations and individual treatment; (2) conducts telephone and face-to-face screening of new patients seeking ambulatory psychiatry services; (3) conducts therapy group sessions; and (4) provides behavioral health support to VCUHS employees.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Professional Counselor or Clinical Social Worker
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including
CPR, etc
Current Virginia license as a Professional Counselor or Clinical Social Worker
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of three (3) years post licensure experience providing initial psychiatric evaluations and individual and psychotherapy in an outpatient setting .
Level and type of experience PREFERRED

In addition to 3 year post licensure experie! nce:
? Group Therapy experience
? Addiction/Substa! nce Abuse Therapy experience
? Sexual Minority Therapy experience
? Family/Couples Therapy experience
? Employee Assistant Program experience
? Threat Assessments and Fitness for Work Evaluations experience
Education/training REQUIRED
Masters level education in the field of social work or counseling
