Eastern State Hospital invites you to apply for a position on a new unit that is designed to model state-of-the-art pra! ctices in inpatient recovery. We are seeking direct care personnel, peer support specialists, nurses, a psychologist, a social worker, a recreational therapist, and expert psychiatric personnel to serve persons with serious mental illnesses. The care providers who fill these roles will actively collaborate with patients on their recovery goals and plans, and work collectively with patients in an environment designed to minimize trauma, and support empowerment and self-determination.
This position is responsible for patient care that includes examination, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and medical illnesses. Works with a multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure development, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment. Ensures medical record compliance with regard to state, federal regulations, JC Standards and other accrediting bodies or agencies. Ensures medical record documentation compliance rate of 100% for monthly reviews and ensures appropri! ate completion of documentation to support reimbursement activ! ities for medical coding and billing practices. Serves as an on-call physician (MOD) when scheduled and as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree with completion of an approved/accredited psychiatry residency training program. Current license to practice Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a current DEA Registration.
Must possess effective communication skills, both oral and written, in order to succinctly document in the medical record and for articulating and interacting with patients and others regarding clinical and/or administrative concerns or issues. Excellent interpersonal skills; good computer and keyboarding skills in order to use the computerized physician order entry program.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with patients, preferably in an inpatient setting.
