Lutheran Family Services of Virginia is seeking a part-time licensed mental health clinician who will be a valued member of our adoption team. Clinical experience working with youth and families is a must, and adoption experience is preferred! The position is funded by a Virginia Post-Adoption Services grant awarded to the Center for Adoption Support and Education, with a goal of providing therapeutic services to improve the well-being of adoptive families in the Piedmont area. Mental Health Clinician-Post Adoption (Roanoke, VA)
Collaborates and builds partnerships with local departments of social services and local CSBs for increasing referrals and marketing of program
Works with Clinical Supervisor and/orDirector regarding clinical program goals, program development an! d startup of childrens mental health services
Assists with management of program budget
Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment
Prepares and maintains all required treatment records and reports
Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical assessment and in conjunction with client and/or family
Provides individual psychotherapy sessions to children and their families at least bi-weekly using best practice and TAC model to assist clients who have complex trauma histories and have been adopted
Conducts family sessions to educate, support and assist families with healthy interactions and attachment
Conducts psychosocial groups for clients as needed
Conducts initial bio psychosocial assessment for appropriate diagnosis
Diagnoses, assesses and implements effective interventions for clients to increase overall life satisfaction
Provides on-going evaluation and assessment to determine appropriateness of! treatment course and makes adjustments as necessary to diagnosis, trea! tment approach and goals
Responsible for oversight, preparation and maintenance of all case documentation as required by agency, and Medicaid and Insurance provider standards including daily therapy notes, quarterly assessments, treatment plan documentation, bio psycho social assessments
Maintains and submits all pertinent billing information in a timely fashion
Maintains personal time records on cases for billing purposes.
Provides services within hours budgeted
Provides leadership and guidance to team members in the area of clinical services
Participates in group supervision on assigned cases as necessary
Consults and provides feedback related to therapy goals to, psychiatrist, DSS/legal guardian, court-appointed attorneys and other pertinent individuals related to clients case
Refers clients or family members to community resources or specialist(s) as necessary
Monitors clients use of medications
Participates in on-going trainings,! seminars and other professional development activities related to the field
Gathers community resources to be used in conjunction with therapy services
Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
Attends administrative meetings as scheduled.
Seeks out and participates in professional development and educational opportunities
Maintains and submits expense reports and receipts monthly
Represents Agency at various community meetings as requested
Performs other duties as assigned
Masters degree in Social Work or other Human Services field with 3 years of experience in providing therapy to children adolescents and families.
Experience providing clinical supervision is preferred
Licensure required
Knowledge of and ability to comply with state licensing, Medicaid and other accreditation standards
Must be insurance paneled/credentialed to obtain insurance c! ontracts with all major insurance companies, or must obtain paneling an! d credentialing within 90 days of employment with LFSVA
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Familiarity with state licensing and Medicaid standards preferred
Valid Virginia Drivers License and proof of insurance
Satisfactory driving record in accordance with Driver Requirements policy
Previous experience with and knowledge of issues specific to children in the foster care system and who have been adopted. (e.g., trauma informed and attachment issues)
Ability to work a flexible work schedule including weekend and evening work
Ability to travel to provide individual, family and/or group therapy and or conduct trainings
Ability to work independently to support the mission, values and strategic plan of LFSVA
Ability to acquire Crisis De-escalation, First Aid, and CPR Certification
Good oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability t! o organize work effectively
Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and required paperwork according to licensing and agency requirements on a timely basis
Basic computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office
