Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job Responsibilities:
20-30 hours per week â€" servicing 4 service programs all within a five minute drive.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will administer medications, assist psychiatrists, counsel with mental health clients, develop client treatment plans, diagnose clients with mental illnesses, file medical reports, and prescribe medications for treatment.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess client’s clinical problems and health care needs.
Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on client’s condition.
Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive client care plan and submits health care plan and client goals for review and evaluation.
Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related t! herapeutic procedures.
May refer clients to physician for ! consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner handles crisis intervention and counseling.
Job Requirements
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner licensure (Virginia preferred) â€" Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Previous experience working in a psychiatric unit of a hospital, long-term psychiatric care setting or mental health/behavioral environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience promoting good health and maintenance
