The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is Virginia's only public acute psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. CCCA serves youth from across the Commonwealth who present wi! th a variety of serious psychiatric and behavioral challenges. Treatment is provided by multidisciplinary teams in a relationship-based, collaborative, trauma-informed treatment model of care. The facility is located in a vibrant town in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30 minutes of major university towns. The mission of CCCA is to provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices to strengthen children's hope, resilience and self esteem.
The Medical Director is responsible for direct supervision of all physicians and for the overall direction of the Psychiatry Department and medical services. Psychiatrists serve as Heads of Treatment Teams, and direct the treatment for each patient admitted to CCCA. The Medical Director establishes standards of treatment for psychiatrists and other medical staff, serves as a standin! g member of the Center's Clinical Staff Executive Committee, a! nd works with Medical Directors from other public psychiatric hospitals to improve overall psychiatric services across Virginia. The Medical Director also oversees the training program with local universities whose medical students, residents, and fellows rotate through CCCA as part of their training.
The Medical Director also provides direct treatment on one of CCCA's four inpatient units, and works closely with other treatment team members to develop and implement treatment plans for all patients on that unit.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Virginia Medical License
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Ability to work effectively with children and families in distress
- Ability to work effectively within the framework ! of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to a relationship-based, collaborative, trauma-informed treatment model of care
- Prior experience in child and adolescent psychiatry practice including pediatric pharmacotherapy, individual and family therapy
- Prior supervisory and administrative experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish
