Candidates must possess knowledge and skills necessary to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate care to individuals. Provides crisis assessment and interventions. Applies principles and has a working knowledge of diverse psychiatric and path physiological theories as identified by the DSM-IV. Coordinates with private and community resources for health promotions and disease prevention for individuals identified as high-risk for Behavioral/Mental Health problems and/or to prevent decomposition. Identifies patients that are an imminent threat to themselves or others and determines possible need for inpatient treatment. Assists with petitioning for Temporary Detainment Orders (TDO’s)/Emergency Custody Orders (ECO’s) for individuals that lack the capacity to be voluntarily admitted, under the circumstance that inpatient treatment is deemed necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Mus! t have Bachelors degree in Counseling or Psychology or Health ! Related Field, or
RN. MA, MSW, or BSN preferred.
Experience: Minimum (2) two years of experience in related field of psychiatry and at least 6 months in crisis intervention.
Licensure: RN licensed in Virginia. License not required for applicant with counseling/psychology background.
Other: Current BLS for health care professionals. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have knowledge of community resources. Must be skilled at counseling and crisis intervention. Attends/receives certification in designated Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 15 days of hire and annually.
