We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to fill a full time position, working 40 hours a week Monday through Friday, in Virginia Beach, VA. Below is a detailed job description for your review. Job Duties include:
- Provide psychiatric services to adults with mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders under the supervision of the Unit Psychiatrist
- Provide coverage for adult outpatient and recovery units
- Provide psychiatric evaluations and/or history & physicals
- Provides diagnosis and treatment of mental health/substance abuse problems
- May order and interpret laboratory tests
- Refer clients to appropriate medical and/or clinical services
- Prescribes appropriate psychotropic medication
- Assists clients in obtaining sample medications and obtaining prescriptions
- Provides information, instruction and counseling on health maintenance, health promotion, social problems, illness prevention, illness management, and medication use
- Manage patient case load and pro! vides documentation for medical direction and supervision, cha! rt review, case review of patient outcomes as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine
- Provides consultation and training to nursing, clinical, administrative staff and collaborates with physicians
Adult, Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Requires a Master's Degree in a nursing related field and a minimum of three years experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing. Possession of a valid license as a registered professional nurse, a nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority issued by the State of Virginia.
